First modifications to this great concept

Moved motor back slightly to allow space for aluminium Z plate and ball nut holder.

Side support increased to 80mm with hole for motor drive.

Increased left rail bracket length for extra support.

Welcome to the community, you are officially the first contributor!

I’m so happy to see this, I hope we will see a lot of modifications and improvements.

Your modification looks really good and it would definitely significantly increase the rigidity, especially in the Y-axis direction.

Cheers,
Dejan

This is great, did you machine the Z plate on the machine?

Hi Nick

No, the machine is still work in progress I have to complete electrics etc.

I am use to the Duet controller system and coding, but for this project I am going with a PiBot V4 96 pro controller and Fluidnc coding.

For the metal plate I printed a drill jig/template from Dejan original stl file checking the dimensions in Onshape and Orca slicer. I used 12mm thick plate, but this can be reduced min 8mm allowing for counter bores.

Great work, busy assembling and printing parts here

Any files for the drag chains available?

Try this set.

Build is coming along well, @DejanHTM please update the BOM, some of the screws were missing from the BOM, but overall very rigid and the build is very satisfying. On the final stretch for electronics and some few more assemblies.

In the final stretch, great design, the rigidity is spot on. This will definitely slice through some aluminum no sweat.

@DejanHTM looks like there isn’t the Y drag chain mount STL file in the downloaded files

Correct, I couldn’t find one either.

Printed my own to suit.

Hey @ortondale do you mind sharing the file? How’s your build coming along, looks like you have everything wired now? Also what kind of cable is the grey one, I am moving into the wiring phase now

Hey Nick, tried to send file over this link but will not accept stl type files.

My e-mail address is ortondale@telia.com contact me on mail and will send file direct.

The cable supplied by JBCNC in Sweden, the brand is IGUS good quality but expensive.

Power supply to 2.2kw spindle. https://www.jbcnc.se/en/cable-and-cable-assemblies-c-41/skarmad-flexibel-kabel-for-kabelkedja-4gx15mm2-p-544

The cable is 9mm OD so took time finding aviation plugs for that size.

Wiring is time consuming so not getting on as fast as would like soldering joints.

Hey, I’ve just updated the files. Download them again, it’s the file name “Drag chain mount - Y-plate p3”

Cheers

Oh, that sounds interesting, a 2.2Kw spindle. Did you try it, can you please share some pictures?

I order one as well, will try it soon.

Thanks Dejan, looks like mount for X Limit switch r2 is also missing, please add it

2.2kw spindle Only bench tested. Having trouble software controlling on off and speed. Made the mistake of using a cheap VFD which was not 10v and signal compatible with my PiBot controller. Have re-ordered the correct VFD (hopefully)

Hello guys, has anyone wired the end stops to the optocoupler? I am a bit confused on how to wire the resistors,
